by Gameloft is planning to optimize some of its games for smartphones manufactured by LG Electronics, namely for the upcoming Optimus 3D MAX. The most special thing about this LG Optimus 3D MAX is the fact that it comes with a 3D screen (so no need to wear those special glasses; the phone has two 3D-capturing cameras, too, but it’s not interesting for most gamers), so playing games on it is expected to be rather fun. Apart from that, it has a 4.3-inch screen with 480 x 800 pixels resolution, so the games will look rather nice on it, and the 1.2GHz dual-core Cortex A9 processor with PowerVR SGX540 GPU will ensure good performance, too.
The initial list of Gameloft games that will be optimized for LG’s Optimus 3D MAX is rather attractive:
- Assassin’s Creed 3D
- Dungeon Hunter 2 3D
- James Cameron’s Avatar 3D
- N.O.V.A. 2 – Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance 3D
- Shrek Kart 3D, BackStab 3D
- Fishing Kings 3D
- Modern Combat 2: Black Pegasus 3D
- Shadow Guardian 3D and Spider-Man: Total Mayhem 3D
- Order & Chaos
- Splinter Cell 3D
This list is yet to be confirmed, and the games will become available through LG Smart World. We don’t know how they’ll look (for example, is Assassin’s Creed 3D going to be an optimized version of the PC or the old mobile version of the game?), but we expect them to be something really interesting. Another good thing is that Gameloft is very eager to share their experience with LG Electronics and want to produce something that is more valuable for their customers.
If the games look as nice on the LG Optimus 3D MAX as we expect, the phone will become one of the best sellers of 2012, unlike its predecessor that failed soon after its release. They say LG is planning to sell 35 million smartphones this year, and if this new 3D succeeds, it’ll make its small contribution and help the manufacturer achieve this goal.
