This new device is a realization of open and flexible games concept: Project Shield is created for both Android games and PC games. Being an Android device, it provides access to any game from Google Play Store. By combining the functions of wireless receiver and game controller, the device can be used for PC games by connecting it to a PC on the basis of Nvidia GeForce GTX graphic cards, thus providing gamers with the access to STEAM games library from any corner of your house or flat.
Project Shield combines the efficiency of Tegra 4 platform with Wi-Fi technology for wireless games transmitting and great audio and video capabilities, which are built in the controller. New gaming device can be used for games on its own display or on a big TV screen, on sofa at home or on your way to work.
Tegra 4 processor
At the heart of the Shield device is the fastest mobile processor Nvidia Tegra 4, which provides a new level of efficiency due to 72 GeForce GPU cores and 4 Cortex-A15 ARM CPU cores. All these computing powers in combination with special power efficient core and energy saving PRISM 2 technology provide long hours of great gameplay without additional charging.
Windows and Android games
Windows and Android are one of the most successful platforms with huge ecosystem of developers. Regardless of the fact that both of these platforms are not created for games only they attract millions of gamers. New Project Shield device is created to allow gamers to enjoy the games anew.
Project Shield can instantly download Android games, including those optimized for Tegra and those available in the app store Nvidia TegraZone. Shield can also be used as a wireless gaming receiver for a PC with Nvidia GeForce GTX 650 graphic card or higher.
