When Nintendo first released their DS, I am sure that no many of us thought that this hand held gaming platform would become home to some of the greatest puzzle video game that have ever been released. What makes it so great is that the diversity of these puzzle games. No matter if you like something like Sudoku or a character based puzzle game, then the Nintendo DS or 3DS has something for you. These puzzle games listed here, while will give you a mental workout they are also a great deal of fun as well.
Brain Age 2: More Training in Minutes a Day
This Brain Age game takes everything about the first game and makes it better in every way. Many people who liked the original game said that while it was good it failed to hold their attention for a long time. Brain Age 2 has many more puzzle games including Sudoku, which only last a short amount of time. This means that you get a great mental workout, but also do not have to worry about getting board with the games. This is a great introduction for older gamers just getting into games. As it has the very popular Sudoku to bring them in, but then it has a ton of other games also.
Tetris DS
Wow is all I can say to describe this. This is a Tetris game that has huge crossover appeal. On one hand Nintendo have made this game for long time, old school Nintendo fans. It has a ton of fan service and features all of your favorite Nintendo characters. Mario, Donkey Kong, Link, and Samus even some obscure ones like Ice Climbers are in here. At its heart, though it is still the same classic Tetris that people have loved since the late 1980s. In addition to the classic Tetris game there is new game modes that will keep you going for a very long time. Tetris DS is one very addicting game.
Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis
This is a weird game as I am sure there must have been many gamers who caught this thinking it would be a classic Mario or Donkey Kong game. At the same time I am sure there was people who looked at this in a store and passed on it for that same reason. Mario vs. Donkey Kong has all that Mario charm, but it is a very fiendish puzzle game that will really drive you crazy as you try to figure out how to get the mini Marios to the end of each level.
Meteos: Disney Edition
Meteos was a huge hit, and how could the developers go on from that? Well the answer to that was by joining forces with Disney. It may sound childish but this is one very tough puzzle game that makes you have to line up certain objects. One really tricky part to this game is just how good it looks. While you are trying to concentrate on the puzzle pieces, you will find yourself from time to time being distracted by the amazing artwork.
Zoo Keeper
This was a very early Nintendo DS game, and it still holds up well today. At its heart it is a very simple puzzle game similar to Tetris or Bejeweled. But the catch is the puzzle pieces instead of being jewels or blocks are little animal faces. You have to line them up in a row to eliminate them and score some points. What makes this game so great and unique is the fact that you need to use the Nintendo DS stylus to move the puzzle pieces. This is a great way to not only get your brain working, but to also get your motor skills running.
